As a collegiate basketball player, I cannot recommend Dr. Youstina enough. I started working with her 8-9 months after my ACL reconstruction, but I wish I found her earlier! I learned from her that I didn’t use my hips/glutes enough when changing direction or speed, and that puts my knees at high risk for re-tearing. I was dismayed because I had already been doing PT for months. However, Youstina was always encouraging and positive. She was very knowledgeable about how to correct my sports-specific movements, and she targeted exactly what I needed to strengthen. I improved an incredible amount over the 4 months that I was with Youstina. She’s helped me rebuild my confidence, and I’m so thankful to play with my teammates again. I’m physically and mentally stronger than before my injury.

On December 18th, 2021, eight games into my freshman year varsity soccer season, I tore my ACL. It was one of the scariest moments of my life and marked a turning point in my high school soccer career. Following my surgery, I spent the next thirteen months with Youstina, working hard at PT to return my knee back to 100%. I strengthened the surrounding muscles and perfected my cutting and movement tactics. With Youstina’s help and guidance, I came out of my thirteen month recovery process in early 2023 faster and stronger than ever before and just in time for softball season. I had played softball for many years prior to my injury and in my sophomore season I fell in love with the sport all over again. So much so, I made the decision to stop playing soccer, so that I could focus my time and effort into becoming a better softball player. I am now training and working hard with a goal to play softball in college.

Dr. Youstina Atalla's Physical Therapy program was my game-changer. Her personalized approach and unwavering support guided me back to the tennis court following my second ACL tear. I'm not just healed; I'm stronger and more confident than ever. Grateful for her expertise and dedication to my recovery.

I completely ruptured my left achilles tendon playing basketball, had surgery to repair it and started physical therapy one month post operation. Because of health insurance complications I was not able to choose where I was treated. So I didn’t start physical therapy with Youstina until 5 months after my surgical repair.
During my first visit with Youstina it was apparent that I was very far behind in my recovery journey. She never said it, but I couldn’t do any of the movements that she was evaluating me on. She asked me what my goals were: “I want to run, practice yoga and play golf.” She created an individualized home exercise program based on those goals. Initially, I did not feel as though I was making any progress, but some days were better than others. I was always hoping that I would wake up one day and be able to walk/run without discomfort and be able to play 18 holes of golf without any pain.
Every time I had a PT session with Youstina, she reminded me that recovery is not linear and she would always point out the minute progress that I was making. She helped me relearn how to activate my muscles in my injured leg. Youstina was confident in me and did not let me down. She encouraged me to stay disciplined and to be consistent with my physical therapy exercises.
She was right! I am happy to report that I am now 14 months post injury and I am running, jumping, practicing yoga and playing golf. Youstina got me to where I am today and I am so thankful for her, her knowledge, technical expertise and compassion.
